Role of Aggregator in Coordinating Residential Virtual Power Plant in “StoreNet” : A Pilot Project Case Study

Towards the development and demonstration of an innovative business model where value proposition for consumers/prosumers, aggregators network operators are well maintained, this study assesses performance different aggregation control strategies a distributed energy storage based residential virtual power plant (VPP). A special focus is given on social welfare strength their relation to capacity budgets allocation. The real-life project, StoreNet basic self-consumption (SB-SC) strategy has already been deployed. Analysing one-year measured data, it observed that implemented SB-SC approach allows 16%−19% electricity cost-saving, whereas proposed VPP-bill minimisation can benefit from 37%−42% cost saving. This also 7%−8% higher than single home bill community does not participate in VPP model. In contrast, peak shaving more favourable operator. It reduces load by 46.5%−64.7% drastically benefits customers aggregator. Based these studies learning, some recommendations made addressing integration aspect future concept local wholesale markets.
